How do you take ordinary 16 x 16 slate tile and make it a contemporary focal point?  Architect John Szafran was seeking a modern, linear tile layout to reflect the scale of this custom fireplace design.

Luke hand-cut each tile to perfect modulation, and then blended the tiles throughout the entire installation so the stone’s natural color variation would make sense in this sleek design.
